The Handwriting Pocketbook
My
Handwriting Pocketbook is for those teaching novice writers, older children or adults. It offers ways of teaching, improving
and troubleshooting handwriting.
I start with the basics - seating, posture,
paper and writing implements, then fix handwriting goalposts with a handwriting checklist. I have included my multi-sensory
'Key Notes' method, specific chapters on teaching beginner writers, improving handwriting and solving handwriting
problems (e.g: for left-handers or those with dysgraphia or arthritis) and a resource section referring readers to schemes,
aids, software, websites and books.
What people are saying about the
Handwriting Pocketbook:
“This is a great little book for the busy teacher...
All in all, this is a book that I expect to use time and time again and I recommend it as a handy pocket guide”

“Throughout Julie shows evidence of solid practical experience together
with an awareness of recent research on the subject of handwriting..... All in all this little booklet contains quite a surprising
amount of sound and useful information. The small format is likely to be a point in its favour as teachers are often overwhelmed
with work and find it difficult to make time to read longer books. This little book is accessible enough to be read right
through in quite a short time and can then easily be kept handy for reference when needed. Both teachers ad teaching assistants
who are involved in teaching children to write will certainly find it very helpful.”

“Julie Bennett has managed to fit an amazing amount
of useful, practical information into this small book. She offers alternatives and solutions rather than hard-and-fast rules,
plus a full section on further resources. Teachers will find this Pocketbook a great help in understanding the issues involved
in the teaching of handwriting. “

important subject of handwriting, leaving no stone unturned. It is detailed yet concise, eye-catching and user-friendly; altogether
highly practical and accessible. Just what busy teachers need!”
